The pendant is lab apatite in solid sterling silver and is $24).

NOTICE: These are GENUINE gemstones! I price my finished pieces fairly because I log every stone I buy in a database and set my prices based on the price I paid for an individual bead (and price I paid for an individual clasp, inch of wire, individual jump ring, and so on). Because I price each component rather than a finished piece of jewelry, my items are almost always less expensive than comparable pieces. In addition to using genuine gemstones, I also use durable components that will outlast every elastic bracelet sold on Etsy. Elastic bracelets will wear out quickly and break, whereas my bracelets will give you years of wear!

I offer here a vivid blue 10mm apatite and 4mm gray moonstone bracelet with all stainless steel components. Each is made with a double strand of .8mm woven silk and polyester Chinese knotting string to ensure that the bracelets are durable and strong! The bold shimmering apatites paired with the soft glowing moonstones creates an opportunity for light to dance and play along the entire length of these beautiful bracelets! The OPTIONAL 2-stone pendant is approximately 4cctw of apatite-colored genuine topaz gemstones set in genuine .925 sterling silver!

1. The bracelet WITH beadcaps comes without a pendant hanger, but if you want one message me and I’ll include your choice of hanger at no extra cost. 2. The bracelet WITHOUT beadcaps comes with or without the stainless steel pendant hanger. If you choose the “no hanger” option there is a moonstone bead in place of the hanger so that the bracelet is uniform with alternating apatite and moonstone beads.

“If it’s not good enough for me, then it’s not good enough for my customers. If I wouldn’t wear it, it doesn’t belong in my shop.” - Heather Constable

Why I Love It: What I love the most about blue apatite is its color. It brings to mind vivid aqua-blue tropical lagoons, like the one I swam in when visiting Mexico with my high school Spanish class. I also love that it’s a chatoyant stone, meaning that it seems to have a moving band of light within it when it’s cut into a round bead or cabochon (a stone with a flat bottom and unfaceted rounded top). This optical effect is often called “cat’s eye” because the “slit” of reflected light resembles the eye of a cat when its pupil is contracted (narrowed). Many gemstones are chatoyant, but I find the rich aqua-blue of apate to be its most attractive property. Although I love its color, that very color often leads miners and mineralogists to mistake it as precious Paraiba tourmaline, and greener apatite as semiprecious peridot!

This bracelet is made with bead-quality apatite so it won’t have the full cat’s eye seen in gem-quality stones, but you can nonetheless see apatite’s chatoyant/glowing property in many of the beads (the result of light being refracted off its internal crystals). Because of this, it made sense to me to pair this beautiful gemstone with gray moonstone because of its own distinctive glow (called “adularescence” after moonstone’s mineral name “adularia”)! My hope is that when you wear your apatite and moonstone bracelet you will be mindful of the light that is within you, and that you will project it into the world so others can appreciate YOUR light and be influenced by your own beautiful qualities! Moreover, my wish is that you will never allow anybody in your life an amount of power over you that is sufficient to dim your light, and that just like these gemstones you will forever shine bright!

Information About This Gemstone: Apatite was first discovered in the 1700s. It’s high in phosphate and fluoride, which gives it its crystalline formation and blue color. In communities where natural drinking water was high in fluoride, it was discovered that the occurrence of tooth decay was significantly lower. This is why most municipal water supplies here in the U.S. are spiked with fluoride, as it prevents not only tooth decay but also strengthens bones! Because it is a highly crystallized stone, apatite is most often used in jewelry as beads and cabochons. However, it can also be translucent, in which form it can be cut into a gemstone form and faceted. In gem form it’s very brittle, so it’s mostly valuable as a collector’s stone. Apatite ranks 5 out of 10 on the Mohs Scale of Mineral Hardness, so while it’s not a super soft gemstone it’s not incredibly tough either so make sure to store your apatite jewelry safely when you’re not wearing it. When you are wearing it you should avoid collisions with hard objects, but you can otherwise wear it on a daily basis with no special precautions.

Fun facts: The name “apatite” is derived from the Greek word “apatao”, meaning “to deceive”. This mineral is so named because in its raw form it can easily be confused with other minerals like tourmaline, peridot and beryl because it’s not always blue but can also be light purple, pink, yellow, brown and even colorless! When viewed in ultraviolet light, some apatite fluoresces, or glows! During mining, its fluorescent property is what distinguishes it from other minerals that can appear similar to it, such as highly valuable Paraiba tourmaline.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0975/1527/4424/files/97D379B8-862E-4727-A0C7-2AB459C2CB1F.jpg?v=1787009789
https://handknottedjewelry.com/products/blue-apatite-and-gray-moonstone-bracelet-with-stainless-steel-hardware-and-optional-sterling-silver-gemstone-pendant
