Moissanite studs. A 6.4ctw *perfect* pair of DOUBLE certified Asscher-cut Moissanites in my custom 4-claw 935 ARGENTIUM silver mountings! Opulent!
Note: These studs are now set in mountings crafted from 935 Argentium silver, which contains 6.5% hardy *germanium* rather than the 7.5% soft *copper* in sterling silver)! Argentium is therefore much stronger and more durable than sterling, and is considerably more ding-resistant and tarnish-resistant than sterling silver AND 14k gold! It has the lastingness of 14k white gold and *feels* and *looks* like it, and remains hypoallergenic (many people who can’t tolerate the copper content in sterling can wear Argentium without issue)! These are earrings you can wear for your lifetime and pass down to a loved one! (**Note that the backs only are sterling silver, as they’re a purchased component).
I’m so excited to finally be offering one of my favorite gemstone cuts, and especially in Moissanite it’s gorgeous! It’s an expensive cut, but I was finally able to make a deal for not only earring stones but also ring stones, to be able to bring you affordable luxury! And so I introduce to my shop the Asscher cut! This is a step-cut stone similar to an emerald cut, but with square cuts that narrow concentrically along the stone’s pavilion (the underside “pointy end”). This cutting produces a “hall of mirrors” effect that makes you feel like you’re peering into, well - a hall of mirrors! Diagonal facets in the corners are also-step cut and narrow in line with the pavilion cuts, producing a lovely contrasting effect!
I’m going to “nerd out” briefly, so please bear with me! Every gemstone has its own specific gravity determined by its density. A cut gemstone’s *carat weight* is determined by these factors. To make it simple, I’m going to compare a 5mm x 7mm emerald-cut Colombian emerald to the exact same size and cut Sri Lankan blue sapphire. Because the emerald is denser/heavier than the sapphire, its *carat weight* is approximately .70ct, compared to the sapphire which *carat weight* is approximately 1.10. Extrapolating from this and now comparing carat-to-carat, some gemstones will be larger or smaller *dimensionally* than others based on their density *even though their weight is the same*. In this example, the .70ct emerald is the *same size* as the 1.10ct sapphire (5mm x 7mm), but their *carat weight* differs. To achieve a 1ct emerald, its dimensions would need to be increased.
Similarly, Moissanite is slightly denser than diamond. This parcel of 8.5mm Asscher-cut Moissanites weigh in at 3.2ct/each and are the *equivalent* of 3ct diamonds cut the same! The stones in this pair of studs, then, have a total *Moissanite* carat weight of 6.4cttw, with an equivalent total *diamond* carat weight of 6cts. They are therefore *larger* at 8.5mm than what a 3ct Asscher-cut diamond would be (approximately 8mm), so these are large, opulent and queenly studs! (Also note that these stones are certified by their diamond equivalent weight of 3cts).
Having said that, this delectable pair of studs features 8.5mm 3.2ct Asscher-cut Moissanites (certified at their equivalent diamond weight of 3ct)! Each is set in my high-end 4-claw Argentium silver mountings with 1mm posts, making this a substantial pair of earrings! I paired these earrings with my oversized **sterling silver** European “butterfly” backs with silver disks - these disks snug against the backsides of your earlobes and serve to center and stabilize the earrings, eliminating forward lobe sag! Finally, the mountings and backs are 18k Seiko-electroplated with white rhodium for a flawless finish!
If you want a matched earrings-and-ring set, I also offer a 9.43cttw *fully* Moissanite Asscher-cut and triangles 3-stone ring in my shop!
