My 5ct cushion-cut “A Second Look” pendant necklace in sterling silver and 18k! Don’t let your eyes deceive you!

For your consideration, I present here a 5ct elongated cushion-cut Moissanite, a lovely stone with D-color and VVS1 clarity. A current trend in jewelry is to set stones in ways they haven’t been traditionally set, such as east-west as this pretty cushion is set. But I didn’t want my own east-west pendant to look like everybody else’s, so I chose to play with other design elements that make you take a second look and see more than just another elongated stone turned on its side! And here it is - my “A Second Look” pendant necklace!

In the most literal sense, setting an elongated stone east-west gives it a second, or different, look than one that’s set north-south. It’s the same setting and the same stone - just a different look based on directionality. But I wanted to change the noun “look” into the verb “look”, and make others look again when you’re wearing this necklace! At first glance, this looks like a bezel setting. But look again! Tucked into the corners of the bezel are prongs! So while this appears to be a bezel-set Moissanite, it’s actually prong-set! Additionally, I forewent a traditional teardrop-shaped bail for this pendant, opting instead for a large ring bail to give it the sense of weighted balance it wouldn’t have were it suspended at the point of a small teardrop bail. The faux bezel setting and larger ring bail not only add interesting design elements, but give this pendant a designer’s touch that tells others you’re not wearing a fad-inspired, mass-produced piece!
