Rainbow moonstone bracelet, hand knotted with high-quality 8-9mm beads!
NOTICE: These are GENUINE gemstones! In addition to using genuine gemstones, I also use durable components that will outlast every elastic bracelet on the market. Elastic bracelets will wear out quickly and break, whereas my bracelets will give you years of wear!
I offer here a lovely genuine white moonstone bracelet strung with a double strand of Chinese silk and polyester knotting thread. Each bead is 8-9mm and has white moonstone’s characteristic blue glow. With snug knots meticulously tied between the beads, this bracelet calls to mind Grandma’s heirloom hand-knotted pearl necklace, passed down from an era when things were made by skilled hands and crafted with durability, quality and longevity in mind! The attractive knots pay homage to a time when hours could be invested in making a product that just exudes luxury and indulgence! Think Jackie Kennedy with her lovely hand-knotted gemstone bead necklaces that were both understated and extravagant at the same time! Think Marilyn Monroe with a simple but elegant string of hand-knotted pearls showcasing her graceful neck, a likely gift from a wealthy admirer!
The hand-knotting guarantees that this bracelet will stand the test of time and suggests to admirers that it is no ordinary beaded bracelet, but one made with intention and attention to detail. The stainless steel hardware will not rust or tarnish, making this a piece you can not only wear and enjoy, but pass down to the next generation if you so choose! The hand-knotted design is timeless and enduring, making this moonstone bracelet a lovely addition to your fine jewelry collection! (Please keep in mind that I’m not a photographer and that moonstones are stubbornly difficult to photograph, so I GUARANTEE this bracelet will look multiple times more beautiful in person!)
This bracelet can be paired with any sterling silver pendant or charm from my shop with the addition of a pendant hanger, so if you want free stainless steel pendant hanger *permanently* added, choose it from the options that populate when you select your bracelet length and add it to your cart (it will show $0 for the hanger). I have not only moonstone pendants, but also gemstone pendants from amethyst to topaz, all in genuine sterling silver, that can be found in the gemstone pendants section of my shop. I can also make you a custom moonstone bracelet with your color choice of knotting thread - just message me the color you want (I have all the colors shown in the listing photos)!

Why I Love It:
I love the soft glow that emanates from within this stone, and just as moonstone holds secrets within it, I find life lessons within the qualities and characteristics of this gemstone. Some moonstone beads in my jewelry pieces have very small spots of leftover matrix (matrix is the rough rock in which the stone was embedded and from which it was mined). I actually prefer to craft my moonstone pieces with less-than-perfect beads, because as I select each stone’s place in a particular piece I am reminded that life is beautiful despite its “flaws”. And just like moonstone, we may have come from a rough beginning, but every one of us is valuable and precious for our inherent and uniquely individual qualities! My hope is that you will be reminded of your own intrinsic value every time you wear your moonstone jewelry, and that you will not think of your imperfections as flaws but as beautiful inclusions that make you precious and one-of-a-kind!
Information About This Gemstone: Most people are familiar with this captivating gemstone and know it by its common name, moonstone, but its mineral name is adularia. Natural moonstone occurs in many different shades, but all moonstone is always rich in feldspars, which are the transparent to lightly colored mineral “building blocks” of the rock creation process. The feldspars interweave as moonstone forms and are responsible for this coveted gemstone’s distinctive shimmer. When ultraviolet rays from the sun are reflected off the feldspar inclusions and into the human eye a mesmeric glowing effect is produced (an effect mineralogists define as “adularescence”). The finest moonstone specimens are colorless and completely transparent and harken from Sri Lanka and southern India, and due to their clarity and rarity can fetch over a thousand dollars per carat!
While I use very nice quality moonstones in my jewelry pieces they are not $1,000 per carat specimens, but they nonetheless have the telltale adularescence that makes them instantly identifiable as moonstones. White moonstone bracelets are almost always strung on clear or white elastic string, but I prefer to use pastel string because it complements the stones themselves. More importantly, using colored string really makes their glow “pop” because light enters the stones, gets blocked by the opaque pigments in the thread and is deflected back through the stones, which amplifies and showcases their beauty!
I absolutely love all stones that produce an “essence” - adularescence, labradorescence, opalescence, etc. However, the natural inclusions in these prized and valuable “essence” gemstones that give them their beauty also give them a weaker molecular structure compared to some other gemstones. Mineralogists use the Mohs Hardness Scale to rank minerals and gemstones from 1 to 10 according to their susceptibility to damage from a harder mineral. Moonstone ranks squarely at 6 on the Mohs Hardness Scale, making it more durable than tooth enamel and a traditional pane of glass (both 5 ), approximately as durable as opal, but not as durable as diamond (a solid 10). For this reason you should treat your moonstone jewelry with relative care and avoid collisions with hard objects, although you can otherwise wear it on a daily basis with no special precautions.
Fun facts: Although white moonstone is closely related to labradorite, it is NOT “white labradorite” as some people think (which is why you will sometimes see white moonstone mistakenly sold as “white labradorite”). While both gemstones are categorized in the feldspar family, they have different mineral compositions. Moonstone is composed of two types of feldspars called orthoclase and albite, whereas labradorite is composed of the feldspars anorthrosite and albite. Gem quality moonstone is semitransparent to transparent, whereas labradorite is always opaque (having no degree of transparency). Lastly, as mentioned above the glow of moonstone is called “adularescence”, whereas the blue, purple, green, red, gray, brown and/or golden glow of labradorite is called “labradorescence”.
